We’ll hear from Pam Young, Head Registrar – Documentation & Systems, and Irene Tortorella, Documentation Officer at the V&A Museum on how the DAM system (DAMS) has been supporting curatorial and non-curatorial staff in managing and maintaining a huge volume of digital assets, ranging from JPEG images to videos and X-rays files.
In this session, Pam will outline the development of image management at the V&A from the 19th century to the DAMS as part of the Museum’s strategy of improving public access to its collections. Irene will present the current state of the DAMS and the user training and support service offered by the Collections Management department, including a recent museum-wide project to onboard 80% of the V&A staff to a new DAM user interface.
