An integral part of the digital transformation initiative at Queensland Art Gallery I Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) was the implementation of a Digital Asset Management System for digital preservation, for increased discoverability, and for collaborative efficiency.
Core to this streamlining process was integrating with both legacy and emerging systems.
Implementing a system such as a DAMS can be a daunting task especially if you have so many stakeholder departments in your organisation seemingly working with competing agendas within silos of knowledge.
In this session, we’ll hear from Shane Appleby, DAMS Administrator at QAGOMA on breaking down the ‘walls’ to build a DAM in a way that created ‘bridges’ between the many departments to cut down on red tape and process and to collaborate to get things done. Shane will highlight how building the DAM in a modular way helped to cater for the ever-changing world of technology including platforms, file types and content creation methods.
If you are about to implement a DAMS or integrate with other systems, then Shane’s experiences at QAGOMA will provide helpful hints on how to avoid the pitfalls.
