AI has been accurately described as less like dealing with a human being and more like encountering a force of nature. Knowing the strengths and limitations of working alongside AI can open up far-reaching possibilities for developing valuable and searchable metadata.
Fred Rogers Productions is a small non-profit that started when Fred Rogers began producing what became nearly a thousand episodes of his award-winning PBS series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Currently there are three series in production: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Donkey Hodie, and Alma’s Way.
Working as a Digital Asset Manager in a department of one and facing a growing catalog of assets (predominantly videos), AI has become a key resource on the path to efficient and effective production. In this session, Jack Rowley, Digital Asset Manager at Fred Rogers Productions will explain the difference AI has made. He will share:
- Defining what AI is and isn’t (i.e. not robots with a penchant for taking over the world)
- Exploring the limitations of machine learning algorithms
- The valuable role(s) AI plays in creating usable metadata
- How effective AI – in particular, video intelligence – improves the workflow, not only for production staff but for marketing, licensing, legal and fundraisers as well
