Beret joined the Milwaukee Art Museum in 1994 and has led the museum through the evolution of media from analog assets, where she continues to be responsible for the physical care and management of the museum’s physical media holdings. In 2003, she helped facilitate the museum’s transition to digital media, both in the creation and management of digital assets through various digitization projects, which include digitizing the museum’s formal imagery of the object collection, digitization of several of the museum’s historical archival media and document collections, as well as singular media collections such as the Brooks Stevens design archive.

Beret skills include in-depth knowledge of physical media care and preservation techniques, with years of experience in the direct digital capture of various media materials, along with expertise in database and metadata management of digital assets. 

Beret has a BA in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, along with a Digital Asset Management Certificate from Rutgers University, and has maintained several professional organization relationships in digital asset management over the years, including being a member of the Visual Resources Association for nearly two decades.
