Spencer joined the AFL at the end of 2010 as an inaugural member of the AFL Media team. With 40 years of TV Broadcast and Production experience, working both in Australia and overseas, Spencer began to realise that the AFL Video and Film archive was deteriorating and would need significant effort to ensure that it was preserved.
As Operations and Broadcast Services Manager, Spencer managed the logistics of cataloguing and shipping the precious 20,000 items to Canberra for digitisation. The only way to preserve it, to monetise it, to share it, was to digitise it.
