Tom first worked on the taxonomy at Getty Images, working in a team of professionals whose job it was to catalogue a collection of up to 22 million assets using a controlled vocabulary. Tom was part of the team who developed a gold standard common language that allowed creative, editorial, video and artwork content to be accessible to customers from across the globe.
Tom also spent time at Debenhams working on the website as an internal search specialist, refining search algorithms to increase sales with a keen user focus. Since 2011, Tom has combined these disciplines – and many more besides – working in an agile environment to optimise the taxonomy and internal search at Cancer Research UK. In 2016 Cancer Research UK gained its current DAM system and Tom’s recent work has been to synchronise the taxonomy and user-experience with the best practice used on the website and enterprise content.
