Giovanni Benigni is currently leading the Vatican Museums' Digital Transformation project, which involves merging all of the Vatican's databases into a single, interoperable, IIIF compliant collection management system, together with a major Historical Image Collections digitalization project - ultimately leading to the creation of a DAMS for all digital assets and an associated long term preservation system - and the creation of the new online collections discovery website.
He started working in Information Technology more than 30 years ago, serving first as CEO of a small company, involved in multimedia and IT consulting, next covering many consulting roles for prime Italian and overseas companies.
In 1997 he joined the Governorate of Vatican City State, where, among others, he directed the team tasked with developing the Reservation and Ticketing System, that has been instrumental in raising attendance up to over 6M visitors per year.
Lately he started to put his long experience and expertise as Digital Transformation Advisor and IT consultant at the service of companies and institutions.
