Beth Holmes

Senior Manager Knowledge Graph

Compare the Market

Beth Holmes started in 2007 as the first Knowledge Engineer at the question-answering startup True Knowledge (later called "Evi"), where she led a team to design an ontology, inference rules and natural language templates to power Q&A over general knowledge and domain-specific datasets. Amazon then acquired the startup to provide Q&A on their Alexa voice assistant. At Amazon, Beth expanded the knowledge engineering function and led various other teams focused on Alexa's Q&A, including Knowledge Engineer Tooling, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning and Localisation. She then became Alexa's Principal Knowledge Engineer, working on initiatives such as a unified schema for Alexa, migrating the graph to a more LLM-friendly version, and owning the annual KnowledgeCon event. Most recently she moved to Compare the Market where she is onboarding a knowledge graph for enterprise and customer-facing applications.
