Following a successful career as a medical translator, Melissa began developing and managing taxonomies and metadata in 2019. Clients include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and other medical and health organizations.

Melissa’s prior experience translating medical language from Spanish and Catalan to English has given her the ability to craft taxonomies with unambiguous, resonant language that describes clients’ information ecosystems from their own perspectives. Having lived outside her home country in culturally diverse, multilingual societies with complex identities for seven years, she is skilled at identifying and challenging assumptions to help clients better articulate and realize their vision for their content.

Melissa holds a Master’s in Information Studies with a specialization in user experience (UX) and data science from McGill University, a Digital Asset Management (DAM) Bronze Certificate from Rutgers University School of Communication and Information, and a Master’s in Translation Studies from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona).
