Technology for Museums 2023

As the Head of Digital Development at the University of Manchester Library, Ian leads a team of permanent software developers and web/digital specialists who develop and support a range of digital applications as well having technical oversight of the library’s web and social media platforms.

During his time at the Library, Ian’s team have developed a range of innovate apps and services including an RFID based self-service mobile app, multiple live AI-supported dashboard apps, a university wide digital collections platform and various bespoke applications supporting library workflows and curatorial activities.

Ian is particularly interested in the introduction and application of new and innovative technology to help the University of Library achieve its ambitious vision in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
