Introducing your Course Leader
Clemency Wright, Founder and Director, Clemency Wright Consulting
Clemency met metadata 19 years ago as a Keyworder for Getty Images. With a fascination for the language we use to describe and find content, Clemency moved into the Search Data team helping to manage the database of searchable keywords powering Getty Images’ search engine. Building on this commercial experience, Clemency moved into the heritage sector, based within the image library at the V&A Museum.
Having relocated to the North East, Clemency started keywording on a freelance basis for a variety of businesses including Pearson Publishing, McGraw Hill, Oxford University Press, Science Photo Library, iStock and Adobe Images.
The importance of accurate, consistent and relevant metadata is key to the services provided by Clemency and her keywording team. Clemency brings an in-depth knowledge of the way metadata works in a system’s back-end and has an obsessive appreciation for the customer search experience. With the accelerated growth of search-based businesses, Clemency’s keywording service expanded to provide consultancy for clients looking to implement and optimise metadata strategy and methodology. Working with organisations such as World Vision, Save The Children and The University of Nottingham, Clemency advises on systems, controlled vocabulary and keyword hierarchy.
