Paul Winstone is a chartered building surveyor and joined Watts in 1979. He is a director in the London office responsible for the building pathology team and the chair of Watts’ Health & Safety Committee. During his long career Paul has been involved in the full range of professional building surveying services, including party walls; dilapidations; schedules of condition; rights of light; fire insurance valuations; providing sundry advice and preparing and administering contracts for alterations, repairs and maintenance and providing planning supervisor services. Paul has extensive experience of pre-acquisition, vendors and sundry surveys of a wide variety of buildings including shopping centres, schools, factories, offices, blocks of flats and the occasional large detached house. As a follow up to these surveys, or as a stand alone service, Paul is frequently involved in the analysis of building defects and the building elements which he has investigated are many and varied, including curtain walling; render failures; UPVC windows; cavity walls; cavitation of asphalt flat roofs, office, residential and industrial roofing, dry rot, damp penetration and solid and engineered timber floors.
