Mary has worked in cultural heritage photography for over 10 years. As a photographer at Glasgow Museums, then at National Museums Scotland before taking on the management of Science Museum Group Photo Studio in 2018.

At SMG, Mary has radically overhauled the photography services content model implementing controlled data fields from the point of commissioning, for significantly improved searchability of assets as they pull through into the DAM system. Mary’s focus is to drive quality and consistency through innovative technical photographic solutions that show the national collections, in their best light.

Mary has been the Membership Secretary for the Association of Historical and Fine Art Photographers since 2020 and will chair a new special interest group for AHFAP members on the topic of DAMS, beginning in 2025.
