Design Operations London 2024

May is an independent Creative Ops Practitioner whose roots trace back to design. She created and led Typeform’s first Design Operations team, bringing creativity and efficiency to this rapidly growing SaaS scale-up.

Before that, May led and managed teams within ad agencies, consultancies and design studios, whose clients spanned almost every sector.

May lives (and works) by an ethos of change and adaptation—a wisdom she probably picked up through her love of landscape gardening. To evolve, we must adapt—it’s true for plants and ecosystems, and it’s true for products and Design teams.

To May, Design Ops is a tool that makes space for creativity and innovation. Structure can get a bad rap for being “restrictive”. But with the right structure in place, ideas can breathe, plants can climb, and real magic can be made.
