Heritage Collections Management 2022

Resource precarity is a reality for many cultural heritage organizations managing digital collections and content in a DAMS. Funding, staffing, time, and technology are all aspects impacting the sustainability and success of management and access initiatives – but often practitioners are not the ones in charge of these decisions. This session focuses on what can be done at the practitioner level to responsibly manage short- and long-term strategic priorities, advocate for the resource internally and with new audiences, and make decisions that don’t paint the organization into a corner. From data to content management to documentation decisions, I can share insights and recommendations for maintaining forward momentum and being positioned to act quickly when new opportunities arise.
