Session 1: Why rights matter
Thursday October 22, 2026
8AM PDT / 11AM EDT / 4PM BST / 5PM CEST

An overview of how rights information may matter to your organization's operations. Beyond lawsuits, rights and clearances for content can impact an organization materially in many ways, including financially. Some organizations capture rights at the start of a project, but often DAM Managers are working with legacy information of various kinds, which contains legal and quasi-legal information. We discuss how rights might “sneak up” on a DAM manager and the implications if they do.

Session 2: Rights “IN”
Thursday October 29, 2026
8AM PST / 11AM EST / 4PM GMT / 5PM CET

This segment will consider the many areas of rights which surround the creation, acquisition, and use of content in today’s world of multiple media platforms. We will cover the basic concepts of works-for-hire; the many types of releases required; waivers, and other
clearances/permissions which accompany content coming into the DAM. Issues arising from AI content. At completion you will be able to assess which proofs of content ownership and what materials you may encounter as you receive content.

Session 3 - Rights “OUT”
Thursday November 5, 2026
8AM PST / 11AM EST / 4PM GMT / 5PM CET

This segment will include the types of rights and obligations that an organization faces as content is distributed. We will outline best practices on royalties, legacy agreements and backend payments, as well as “Fuzzy” rights and legal (but not financial) requirements that can come with content use in multiple contexts and on a variety of platforms. At completion you will be able to assess how your DAM can or cannot help with alerts and the tracking of rights out obligations.

Session 4 - To DAM or not to DAM, that is the question
Tuesday November 17, 2026
8AM PST / 11AM EST / 4PM GMT / 5PM CET

This segment covers factors that influence decisions around the capture of rights information in a DAM system. For example, access to legal resources and the organization’s tolerance for risk influence how and where rights information can be housed. We will look at the role of an organization’s legal department in the movement of content and proposed use, and consider the type and level of rights information your organization is obtaining about its content. At completion you will be able to provide recommendations to partnering departments and management on your DAM’s capabilities to move into the realm of rights.
