La’ Tonya Johnson joined the Jackie Robinson Foundation in 1997 and has been the Vice President, Chief Operating Officer since 2007. As COO, she oversees the organization’s financial, administrative and human resources functions. She served as project coordinator for the development of the Jackie Robinson Museum which opened in July 2022.
Born in Miami, Florida and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Ms. Johnson began her professional career at New Brunswick Theological Seminary as Student Services Manager, quickly followed by nearly three years as Office Manager at the headquarters for the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. From 1992-2008, she also worked as a youth minister at the parish, diocesan and national church level, ultimately providing consultative services for three national Episcopal Youth Events.
A graduate of Rutgers University, Douglass College. Ms. Johnson currently resides in Newark, NJ.
